A truly pampered vacation from the beginning to the end. Mark provided explicit details regarding the Villa and staff as well as sights to see. The Staff provided above and beyond personal attention and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Shane was awesome, not only providing three meals a day at the main home or at the beach house but also fulfilling any other request. Rambo was available to provide transportation at any time. Both Pansy (housekeeping) & Neville (grounds keeper) were very willing to assist with any request we might have had. This was definitely one of the most memorable vacations we’ve EVER experienced, the beautiful home and beach house on the ocean, the private beach, the kayaking, snorkeling, YS Falls, a boat trip on Black River (pick up is at the beach house), the Pelican Bar and a very unique hike to the extremely unique John Deer museum 🙂 The entire experience is absolutely phenomenal and unforgettable

My wife and I did a destination wedding at the villa and it was great. The staff is top notch and the villa itself was perfect. It really felt like a home, not just a hotel. I highly advise going. My wife and I are going back this year to renew our vows.

If you want a vacation surrounded by beauty where you can visit a Jamaica that you will never find in a resort, with staff who are kind, genuine and, well, simply wonderful, then this is the place for you. This was our third time in Jamaica, but our first outside of a resort.

Mark (the owner) was great. We actually had to change our dates due to medical issues, and he had no problem with that.

We only went on a few excursions that Shane arranged for us. Highly recommend Captain Ted for a Black River tour with a stop at Sister Lou’s and the Pelican Bar. Also did Lover’s Leap with a late lunch at Jack Sprats. Rambo did the driving for us.

We definitely plan to come again. Hopefully for our son’s college graduation in 2017. Shane said he’d show him fishing Jamaican style. 🙂

Woke up everyday and said “this is paradise”. Wonderful trip. Wonderful place. Wonderful people. My teenage daughters had a wonderful time snorkeling, kayaking and cooking with Shane. It’s hard to put into words the beauty of the land and people. Have to go on the black river trip with Captain Ted and first mate Garrett, it’s a must. Already scheduled a return trip.

We arrived in Jamaica and was picked up at the airport by the driver Rambo (excellent driver and the cold beverages was a nice touch), it was a beautiful drive and seen so much of the beauty of the country, the stop at the jerk shack a must, we liked it so much we stopped on the way back to the airport. The house was what I was looking for…my very own paradise for 8 days!! We had a blast on the boogie board, and it was nice having the outdoor shower, and the grounds keeper Nevil kept the place immaculate, everyday there would be fresh water on the top of the steps to get the sand off your feet, again a nice touch!! The beach is very private and the beach bar area is AWESOME!! We even had a dinner served down there, and speaking of the food….Shayne and his wife are amazing cooks and servers!! We arrived to an amazing shrimp dish on our first night and then he sat down with us and took our request ( and we requested to eat Jamaican style, so we pretty much gave him the control, and he did not let us down!!) We tried lots of different foods it was absolutely perfect!! We went on a few excursions with Rambo at the wheel, he was very informative! We also (tried, actually got a ride half way there from the locals) walked to Treasure Beach, and went to Jakes for pizza…took a long time but was worth the wait! Also I would suggest the boat tour, fun way to spend the day, seen dolphins along the way VERY COOL! All in all we had an amazing time, one thing to remember you are very secluded so if you want snacks or beverages get before you go to the house! Also one day the housekeeper (who also did an amazing job) had a friend come to the house to sell us local crafts, got a hand crafted wood fold down fruit bowl, very neat!! Thanks Mark for sharing your piece of paradise!!

My 60th birthday was at the end of December and we spent a wonderful week at Great Escape. What an awesome way to celebrate this milestone. My husband and I met friends on 12/28 at the Jamaica airport and thanks to Mark’s tip, we were expedited thru customs by VIP Attractions (the extra $50 was SOOOOO worth it).

The ride to Great Escape was a treat, with Rambo driving and being an entertaining tour guide. We made quick stop at the market in Montego Bay to stock up on snacks and adult beverages and then a stop at Border Jerk for some great chicken. What a wonderful start to an amazing vacation.

The Villa was even better than we expected. Two bedrooms and two baths and a great pool (expertly maintained by Nevil) at the main house and the clubhouse at the beach was PERFECT for watching the sunset!! And Wifi!!!!!

Shane prepared delicious meals for us and his rum punch should be bottled! We took a few (not many) trips to nearby attractions — Frankly, being at the Villa was so perfect, we really didn’t feel the desire to go anywhere.

We did take a boat trip to the Pelican Bar and down the Black River to Sister Lou’s……Captain Ted was amazing! The sea was quite choppy, but he navigated the small boat expertly.

Pansy cleaned for us every day and even did some laundry for us.

All and all, the combo of the villa, the staff and the laid back Jamaican culture made for a PERFECT birthday!!!

We stayed at Mark’s villa for two weeks and it has been the best holiday we have had in quite a while. The villa itself is in a peaceful location just outside Treasure Beach. The club house on the beach has a bedroom and bathroom which is cute and the fact that they wasn’t aircon was not a problem. The staff were more than willing to help with anything you needed. Special thanks to Rambo for all the driving we had loads of trips out to see all sorts of attractions, Rum Factories, waterfalls, spa baths etc and trips into Treasure beach when we fancied a night our from the villa, and to Shaun for the wonderful meals just say what you would like and off Shaun goes and comes back with the receipts and all the ingredients for some wonderful meals, the best by far was the barbecued pork and seeing him club a tree to snap off the dead wood was a sight in itself. The communication with Mark was very easy and fast and the whole process was smooth and trouble free. I would highly recommend Great Escape. Julia Thornton and family. (husband, two grown children and their partners).

We stayed for one week in early February of this year and had a fantastic time. Everything was as advertised, swimming (sea or pool), Kayaks, view, etc. Mark, the owner, was easy very easy to deal with. And the staff, Rambo, Anne, Shane, etc. were always up to the task. Anne’s meals were fantastic. The only slight issue was that the bikes on site were not in service at the time. Other than that, people who aren’t used to the tropics need to understand about insects, but we are from Florida, so no big deal. I’ll certainly return in the future.

I visited hello for a short getaway weekend which turned out to a fabulous last minute on Valentines weekend.

It was the day before that we contacted Mark the villa owner to let him know we finally got a flight and we would like to rent his villa. Mark made our experience so awesome and everything ran so smoothly.

The villa itself is beautiful and full of character. The pool and deck with the authentic hammock was most relaxing. The deck had music, modern lounge chairs, and everything you need while daydreaming on the beautiful ocean directly across the street. But it does not end there. Across the street the villa also have a beach house with a one bedroom one bath room directly on the Caribbean ocean…the views are spectacular and ambience is to die for. Pictures doesn’t do the villa justice.

The sweetest part was the boat to Pelican Bar picked us up directly from the beach house and we zipped across the ocean to the most awesome drinking spot and seafood hut in the middle of the Caribbean Sea.

The staff was most accommodating…whatever we wanted…they were ready to please. If ever you want to stay a week or just a quick weekend getaway this villa really is the spot for an off the beaten path way experience.

The Great Escape is close to perfect. We came as a group of five friends for the Christmas and New Year period and had an amazing time. The accommodation is really well maintained – clean and kept that way by Pansy and Neville who came every morning (including Christmas and New Years Day) to clean and maintain the pool. Shane was looking after us and cooked lovely food, recommended places, went shopping for us and arranged trips. Rambo (and Jayvon – what a dude), along with Brent, were brilliant drivers and showed us some sites of Treasure Beach and surrounding areas that were off the beaten track and that we’d never have experienced on our own. They were very accommodating with our late night return journeys from bars!

The beach house and private beach are the best parts of the house, along with the deck and pool. We looked at other houses in the area and none seemed to come close to The Great Escape in terms of the outside space.

The area is beautiful and the people are amazing. Any worries about safety were gone the second we arrived – the people are so friendly and welcoming.

The location is actually great. It’s true that it’s quite a long walk to Treasure Beach (at least 45mins) but that didn’t pose any problems for us as Rambo or Brent often took us and during the day the walk is lovely if you fancy it.

Loved it. Can’t wait to come back.

After spending a week at Great Escape with our 3 children (4 yr olds and a 18 month old), we can’t wait to go back. The travel was not easy with our crew, some long flights then a long car ride (~2 hours from Montego Bay), but once there, it is pardise. The weather was perfect, warm and sunny every day. The location is remote, just beach/pool/walks down the road to see the horses and goats/quick stop into the Cove boutique hotel for a drink. If you like getting away from it all and don’t need a lot of stimulus beyond a good book and a nap, you found it. The staff is great, very helpful and accomodating – Ann’s meals were very good, hearty local foods and she was very flexible with us. Rambo was very helpful, even bringing sea shells for the kids to take back! The pool and gardens are well taken care of the house is clean. Mark was easy to work with and responsive to questions as I was a little nervous going off the beaten path with the family in tow. If you want a luxurious location with many activities, this is not the place for you, if you want a quiet beach house with a family atmosphere, no distraction – make your reservation! We also visited the town of treasure beach which is very chill – very nice people and not at all intimidating. The beach was nice and had good food at Jack Sprats. YS Falls were nice as well, go early as Ann and Rambo recommend and beat the tourists, kids had fun in the pools there and it was good to get out and see some more of Jamaica. I would definately recommend this location for families, couples, or a group. My wife can’t wait to get back on a girls trip.

Great place! Great staff! My wife and 28 year old son and myself spent a week here, Very nice place.

We had the meal package and were able to ask the night before for the next days meal. Anna is a great cook.

Rambo(the driver) picked us up at Montego Bay airport then took us to Negril after our week stay for our second week. He took us anywhere we wanted to go. He and my son went to the Bob Marley site.

He took us to the bars and waited until we were finished. Anyhing we needed they heiped us.

Great swimming pool and beach house. The place is well worth the money.

This is a great house in a beautiful area of Jamaica. We are used to the all-inclusive resorts, so this was very different. No nightlife or noise.. just long walks each morning down the lovely country road (with plenty of goats), days spent at the ‘clubhouse’ down by the private beach and lots of swimming. The beach is pretty amazing.. no one around except the odd snorkeler or boat passing by. The garden beside the clubhouse is yet another peaceful and beautiful place to relax. The bedroom and bathroom down at the clubhouse make it extra special and comfortable. This house is maintained daily by an excellent staff. Ann, the cook and house manager, was so sweet to cook some specific things we asked for and everything was presented nicely and very delicious.. real, hearty food, nothing fancy. Rambo is an amazing driver, very helpful and was happy to answer questions as we drove around. We learned a lot about Jamaica from him. The house, grounds and pool were kept very clean. Housekeeper and gardener come each morning. The house itself is not extravagant, but the bedrooms and living room are very comfortable and cozy. The outside deck is probably the best part of the house. We really enjoyed swimming in the pool at night.. just such a treat to have a private pool! It was very easy to book the house and the owner is very easy to work with. I would definitely recommend this house to families (seems like it would be great for kids), couples and anyone looking for a quiet getaway. The staff is very warm and welcoming and they provide a friendly atmosphere. Getting to town is a hike.. an hour plus on foot (have Rambo drive you if you do not like a long walk). The famous Jake’s is fun for a drink, and the town of Treasure Beach is nice for an afternoon jaunt.

Great Escape was a private paradise. The owners were wonderful and had everything arranged. The house is beautiful and the location is so private and special. The extra beach house and private beach is a huge plus. And if you don’t feel like the salt water there is the pool attached to the house! My only suggestion is to be sure to stock up on all the food and liquor you will want for the week when you go shopping after you land in Jamaica. Once you are at the house your options are very slim to get anything else you may need. Just do that and you will have a perfect vacation! We recommend this place with high stars for comfort, beauty and privacy!

This is truly a dream spot and the place to go if you are looking to relax and experience Jamaica without all of the tourists. It’s a very quiet, peaceful location and has everything you need to make a memorable vacation. The house isn’t fancy but is definitely comfortable w/ 2 beds and 2 baths and the separate beach bedroom allows for complete privacy (but location of beach bathroom means several stairsteps to navigate in the night). The best part of the experience is the TLC provided by Ann and Rambo. ..you don’t have to do a thing! Ann makes 3 incredible meals each day and is happy to accommodate any dietary challenges…she’ll even let you go to the market with her if you want! Rambo provides transportation to/from airport and will drive you to any other adventures you wish to pursue. They are great to talk with and learn about the true Jamaica. If the beautiful weather, beach, and pool don’t hold your attention, the house is furnished with state of the art electronics and filled with DVDs. If you can give up Ann’s cooking one night, you should go to Jack Spratt’s for island pizza..so good! We’ve made trips to Black River and Pelican Bar with Joseph and to the Falls…both were fun and I’d recommend. We’re most happy though just to hang around and relax and watch the 4 or 5 cars go by or the goats walk down the road. If you’re looking for lots of activity/shopping/nightlife, then I wouldn’t recommend this palce. It’s the place to go if you’re looking to relax and get away from it all. Working with Mark and Carolyn to get your vacation booked is a breeze..they’re very helpful and make every attempt to grant your wishes. We’ve recommended this place to other friends who’ve visited and they’ve all been happy with their experience. We love this place so much, we’ve booked it 7 times and plan to make it our yearly home away from home (if only for one week at a time!)
